Holy Week Services and Masses

Triduum

The word Triduum comes from the Latin word meaning "three days." The Triduum consists of three full days which begin the evening of Holy Thursday, and end at Easter Vigil.

The Triduum celebrates the heart of our faith, salvation, and redemption: the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Triduum commemorates the Institution of the Eucharist, the passion, crucifixion, death of our Lord, his descent to the dead, and finally his glorious resurrection on Easter Sunday morning. Along with the Ascension, these important events make up the Paschal Mystery.

HOLY THURSDAY

Holy Thursday

At the Last Supper Jesus washed the feet of his disciples. "If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another's feet. I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do." John 13: 13-14

Holy Thursday commemorates the institution of the Eucharist and the Sacrament of Holy Orders.

Resurrection of Our Lord

"When they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back; it was very large. On entering the tomb they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a white robe, and they were utterly amazed. He said to them, "Do not be amazed! You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. "   Mark 16:4-6
